Last year the automotive world was captivated by the video of two matching Corvettes drag racing on a city street, only to crash into each other seconds later Just seconds before the race started, a couple of kids passed right in front of the Corvette drivers, who then launched hard before wrecking their matching pair of overcompensators.
Well it has taken a full year, but police have finally indicted the two men involved in the race. 45 year-old Roy Bowden and 24-year old Brian Herbert were brought up on a litany of charges stemming from their foolhardy race, reports YourHoustonNews.com. Our question; what took so long?
The video became an overnight sensation, going viral and quickly racking up a couple of million views. Corvette fans the world over cringed as two matching muscle machines destroyed each other in a foolish display of masculinity. Amazingly, under Texas law, an illegal street race is normally just a Class B misdemeanor.
However, because Herbert was injured and had to be taken to a hospital, the charges were upgraded to a third-degree felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. While we doubt that either man will do time (if you can afford a Corvette, you can afford a decent lawyer), we hope their international embarrassment was enough to convince them to reel-in the idiotic displays of speed.
